Middle school students engaging in partnerships within the community can positively impact both the students and the community itself. These partnerships provide valuable opportunities for students to learn about civic responsibility, build skills, and make meaningful contributions to society. Here are several ways middle school students can get involved in community partnerships:
Holiday Reading Challenge-Duncan Public Library Partnered with Honors ELA students to provide a valuable suggested reading list, and they are validating the students' reading logs over the DPS Holiday Break.
The sixth-grade students used their research skills to search for the best color combinations for poinsettias, and colored the different varieties of poinsettias for the Chisholm Trail Assisted Living Center. The students included facts about the poinsettias such as the place of origin and plant classification. The Chisholm Trail Assisted Living Center occasionally receives poetry, letters and cards from Honors ELA students 6th through 8th grade.
